PICK OF THE WEEK
Brokeback Mountain – A slow-paced, very touching, and affective love story. Heath Ledger is especially fine. Best movie this year? Not for me to say. I'm not a member of any "academies."
Fun with Dick & Jane – Not fun.
Rumor Has It... – ...that this movie isn't very good. Unfortunately, the rumor is true.
Munich – The ads say "this is Steven Spielberg's masterpiece." Personally, I vote for Schindler's List, but Munich is very good work, and always interesting. Here's the rub. When it comes to communicating ideas, it seems to me that there are dozens of books every year that do it better than the best films. A personal bias, but one that holds up to scrutiny.
