Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas is something different. It's a love story that's grown inside me for years. I'm not sure where it came from — some combination of personal experiences and images that stayed with me. But once the story took shape in my imagination I knew I wouldn't be happy until I'd made it into a heart-touching, moving novel.
Possibly it's a page-turner, too. (I hope!) But foremost it's a novel about what it feels like to be in love, and the pleasures and agonies that love opens you up to.
